A Surinamese national identified only as Corojoe called ‘Pikachu’ is now dead after he was crushed by a truck on Friday at Even Creek, Corentyne River, Berbice.
Reports are that the Corojoe and a businessman from Crabwood Creek, Upper Corentyne, Berbice ventured to Even Creek some 250 miles out from the Corentyne River to make checks on logs.
It is alleged that when the men returned to the landing location, they were standing behind the truck when it “bounced on the trail” and cause Corojoe to fall between the wheels and cabin.
Police reported that the right side back wheel of the truck then ran over him.
He was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to Skeldon Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The body is at Anthony’s Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination and identification.
This is a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. What a freak accident. It is sad indeed.
