A security guard is feared drowned after he accidentally slipped into the Demerara River on Wednesday morning while guarding a vessel.
The man has been identified as Zephyr Stanislaw of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara.
The News Room understands that Stanislaw is attached to a private security firm and was stationed at the Guyana Rubis Incorporated, located at Providence, East Bank Demerara.
Reports are that around 04:00hrs, Stanislaw was on main duties to guard inside the ‘Demerara’ vessel.
Another security guard from the said firm reportedly told the police that he saw Stanislaw climbing down the ladder from the ‘Demerara’ ship to board a marine boat.
During the process, the security guard said Stanislaw accidentally slipped and fell into the Demerara River.
Sources told the News Room that efforts to pull Stanislaw from the river were futile due to the rough tide.
