Vendanand Khemraj, a 51-year-old driver and resident of Ogle, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was found in a canal near his home on Wednesday night.
Police Headquarters said the body was face down underwater on the western parapet of Well Street, Ogle. The discovery was made around 20:00 hrs Wednesday.
Police officers visited the scene and the man’s wife, Pamela Khemraj positively identified him.
Based on reports, there were no marks of violence on the man’s body.
His sister said she last saw him alive at about 18:20 hrs Wednesday. Other family members said Khemraj was an alcoholic and a diabetic.
The body is presently at Sandy’s Funeral Home, awaiting an autopsy.
