Venezuelan woman admits to killing man in Reg. 7 – Police

Oriamna Naomi Silva Figuera, the 23-year-old Venezuelan woman who was arrested in relation to the fatal stabbing of her drinking partner at a Kumung Kumung backdam, Region Seven, has reportedly confessed to the crime, the Guyana Police Force revealed on Saturday night.

Figuera was among three persons who were arrested in relation to the murder of ‘Sunny’, whose body was discovered with several stab wounds on Friday morning at his camp.

The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between August 17 and 18; Police are yet to ascertain the man’s full name, age and address.

Police Headquarters said Figuera was questioned by detectives at the Bartica Police station during which she reportedly admitted to stabbing ‘Sunny’ with a retractable knife that she had in her possession.

“During the interview, she was cautioned by the Police and told of the allegation of the Murder of ‘Sunny’, to which she admitted whilst stating that the deceased had attacked her earlier in the night in question when she refused to dance with him at a shop Kumung Kumung,” Police Headquarters explained.

According to the Police, Figuera claimed that she went to ‘Sunny’s’ camp later that night where she saw him lying in a hammock.

“She took a retractable knife and dealt ‘Sunny’ three stabs about his body,” Police said.

Investigations are ongoing.
