Aketa Williams and Shonetta Porter were charged on Monday and both were placed on $25,000 bail over charges that they reportedly assaulted each other.

Williams, a 27-year-old Police Officer, and Porter, a 30-year-old teacher, appeared before Magistrate Rhondell Weever at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

It was noted that Porter assaulted Williams on June 10, at Longden Street, Georgetown, with the intent to cause her actual bodily harm. Porter pleaded not guilty.

However, it was also noted that Williams then assaulted Porter on the same day and at the same location.

Williams pleaded guilty but told the Court, “She (Porter) hit me first.”

As such, the Magistrate altered her plea from guilty to not guilty as a consequence.

The prosecutor had no objections to bail and the duo is expected to make their next Court appearance on September 25.
