Labourer charged with simple larceny

Andrew James, a 22-year-old labourer of Onderneeming Sand Pit, Essequibo Coast, Region Two, was sentenced to 18 months in jail after he was charged with simple larceny.

James, who is also called Awoo, was accused of committing the act against Andre Corbin, a 44-year-old taxi driver, on July 31.

The incident happened at about La Union, Essequibo Coast.

James appeared at the Charity Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Esther Sam, where the charge was read to him.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.
