Berbicians receive keys to new low-income homes at Hampshire

Several Berbicians became homeowners today, as they received keys to their new low-income homes at the Hampshire Housing Scheme in Region Six moments ago.

Chief Executive Officer of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), Sherwyn Greaves presented the keys to the beneficiaries.

The Hampshire scheme encompasses a total of 100 homes. Each dwelling boasts dimensions of 20×30 feet (600 square feet) and features two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and sanitary facilities.

Mohamed Nazir and his spouse, Bebe Fatima Reasat, emphasized the significance of this achievement, as they have been renting for nearly eight years. They eagerly anticipate redirecting their rental expenses towards other endeavours.

“It’s a great achievement for example the money that was going to rent it could always come in to do something else […] it can even be additional savings for my kids for their future for their studies,” Mr. Nazir explained.

Meanwhile, young Malica Moore expressed her satisfaction at the government’s commitment to promoting homeownership for young professionals like herself. She eagerly looks forward to occupying her new residence.

The Hampshire Housing Scheme is already fully equipped with essential utilities, including electricity and water, and has benefited from first-phase infrastructure development, such as access roads, drainage, and culverts.

CH&PA’s Projects Department supervised the construction of these homes.
