A father of two has died after he crashed into a car along the Tain, Corentyne public road while riding his motorcycle.

Dead is Rondel Rahaman, 35, of 153 Bloomfield, Corentyne, Berbice.

Rahaman’s wife, Maureen Rahaman, said at the time of the accident he was heading to pick up the car he operated as a taxi. The car is usually parked at Hampshire Village.

CCTV footage seen by the News Room shows Rahaman crashing into a car which had just pulled out from the side of the road and, without any indicator on, attempted to turn.

As a result of the impact, Rahaman flung off his motorcycle and fell on the side of the road.

Rahaman’s wife said he reportedly remained on the road until a hire car driver rushed him to the Port Mourant Hospital.

“At the hospital they told me he got serious head injury and his foot was broken (left) from waist go down,” Mrs Rahaman said.

She said he was subsequently transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital where the doctors told her that Rahaman was brain dead and nothing could be done to save his life. He died at noon on Thursday, some four hours after the accident.

According to the wife, Rahaman was dedicated to his church and provided well for the family, taking on additional jobs to ensure that they were financially stable.

My heart felt sympathy goes out to Mrs. Rahman and the rest of the family on the demise of their loved one.. If only he could have ridden a little slower, he would not have lost control of his motor cycle. He has gone so soon. May his young soul rest in peace.
