Tomb of murdered man vandalized in Berbice

The tomb of a man who was recently murdered was discovered vandalized on Monday morning at the Babu Jaan cemetery in Port Mourant, East-Berbice Corentyne.

The tomb bore the body of 29-year-old Ramanand Mingo, of Clifton Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

Mingo was stabbed to death by his friend Andrew Seegobin at a gambling shop in John’s Village, Port Mourant on November 19, 2023. Seegobin was charged for his murder and is currently on remand.

Priya Singh, a cousin-in-law of the deceased, told News Room that the top of the tomb and a section of the side was destroyed and the inside of it was ransacked.

Singh said Mingo was buried with a ‘cross body bag’, something that he always wore but there was nothing inside to be stolen.

According to Singh, nothing was taken from the tomb or the casket. The Police are investigating.

    Sad. Even the dead are being robbed. According to Priya Singh, cousin of dead man, nothing was stolen.
    Priya, you are wrong- the deceased’s DIGNITY was stolen when the tomb was broken into.
    Why can’t these grave robbers find a better, decent job to make a living ?
    Is it that people don’t employ LOWLIFES ?
