Three arrested, stolen firearm and ammo recovered

Three men were taken into custody following the discovery of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition which they allegedly stole from a Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke-Linden Highway pensioner.

Police Headquarters said Amos Emanuel, 22, of Circuitville, Soesdyke/Linden highway and Bryan Khan, 28, of Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden highway were arrested for breaking into the Yarrowkabra home of Mohamed Hack on November 22, 2023.

According to the Police, the two men were placed in custody during which they were questioned in relation to the crime.

“Emanuel admitted that he and Khan broke into Hack’s house and stole Hack’s firearm and ammunition. Emanuel related that after the robbery, Khan took away the firearm from him, along with some of the ammunition,” Police Headquarters said.

Subsequently, Police said Khan took investigators to a small clump of bushes behind his Yarrowkabra home.

There, he pointed them to a black plastic bag containing one Astra .38 revolver with three matching rounds in the barrel.

There were also two spent shells along with forty-nine live .38 rounds of ammunition which were in an ammunition box, belonging to Hack, Police said.

Police said the suspects were further questioned after which Khan took detectives to the home of Alwyn James, a 27-year-old taxi driver of Yarrowkabra, where he pointed out an area where the ammunition was buried.

“The area was dug up and thirty-one twelve-gauge cartridges were found in a black plastic bucket,” Police noted.

The trio remains in custody and is assisting with the investigation.
