Coconut vendor shot next to ‘known drugs block’

A 32-year-old coconut vendor was shot twice on Thursday night by two men on a black XR motorcycle. Injured is Kevin Lachish of Broad and Lombard Streets, Georgetown.

Police Headquarters reported that the shooting occurred at about 19:30hrs.

Investigations revealed that Lachish was at his coconut stand on Broad and Lombard Streets, “next to a known drugs block” when he was confronted by the suspects, one armed with a handgun.

Police said the registration number of the motorcycle is unknown at this time.

“The male with the gun then discharged three rounds in the victim direction one hit him to his left thigh and one hit him to his left wrist” the Police reported.

The suspects escaped while Lachish was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public spirited. He is in stable condition.

Investigators recovered a 9mm spent shell from the scene while CCTV from the area will be reviewed.
