For the year 2023, the Immigration Support Services Department issued a total of 10,155 visas.
Head of the Department, Michelle Davis made the disclosure on Thursday during a live broadcast on social media about the agency’s review and projections for 2024.
According to Davis, the visas issued are of different categories such as business, students, visitors and employment.
In providing a breakdown of the visas issued, Davis said there were 4,978 employment visas, 66 business visas, 64 student visas and 1,764 to visitors.
The Immigration Support Services Department, which falls under the responsibly of the Ministry of Home Affairs, also handles the processing and issuance of citizenship and naturalization.
Davis said for 2023, a total of 300 citizenship certificates were issued.
Last month, Minister of Home Affairs Robeson Benn said the ministry received 355 applications for naturalization and registration and another 633 for descent.
Other services offered by the Immigration Support Services Department include applications for persons interested in working in the mining sector and extension of stay, whether it’s for visitors or employment.
