A man died while traveling to an interior location in Region Seven, sources said on Monday.
The deceased, identified as Sookaran Kumar, was reportedly en route to relieve workers so they could travel out home for the Christmas holidays when the incident occurred.
Kumar was a passenger in a truck driven by Sherwin Fraser. Witnesses said that while the vehicle was ascending a hill near the Aranka Junction, Kumar began clutching his fingers and gasping for breath before collapsing against the truck door.
He was transported to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Kumar’s death.
