Police ‘A’ Division Career Day attracts some 1,200 youths from 27 youth clubs

Close to 1200 children from 27 Youth Clubs across the Police Divisions today (April 9) participated in the Guyana Police Force’s “A” Division inaugural Career day , held under the theme “Transforming the Mind, Developing the Nation through Motivation and Inspiration”

 

 

The event, which was held at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary was declared open by Minister of Education, Dr. Rupert Roopnarine.

 

He commended the efforts of the Guyana Police Force, more specifically the Divisional Commander, Officers and ranks of “A” Division and other stakeholders for the staging of the event.

 

The minister said he was impressed with the emphasis placed on local activities and products observed in the exhibition booths, noting that they will generate high interest in the youths.

 

He also urged the youths in attendance to pay close attention to their parents, teachers and those who give them guidance so that they can contribute to nation building.

 

 

Commissioner of Police, Seelall Persaud during his brief remarks called on the youths to seize the opportunity to explore the diversity of the work environment.

 

Booths were set up by the Guyana Defence Force, the Guyana Fire Service, the Ministry of Education, the Guyana School of Agriculture, the Guyana National Newspapers Limited, the Guyana Rice Development Board, University of Guyana Health Sciences Department, E. R Burrowes School of Art and the Guyana Responsible Parenthood Association, among several others.

 

The youths also participated in cultural performances.

 

Musical entertainment was provided by the Police Steel Band and stereo sounds. Other attractions included horse riding and trampoline.
