UPDATE; Gangaram Murder; One suspect remains in custody

As Kunti Hemraj prepares to bury the remains of her husband on Sunday, October 02, 2016, she is hoping that justice will be served soon, as she also believes that the suspect who is currently in police custody is her husband’s murderer.

 

Kunti Hemraj aka Rosie spoke to News Room on Saturday, October 01, 2016 where she noted that it has been very difficult since she lost her husband; Ramnarine Itwaru.

News Room understands that a male is in police custody and is being questioned by ranks of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) from Georgetown. Police sources have also confirmed that an extension was granted to keep the man in custody.

 

Visibly upset Hemraj revealed that a few months prior to her husband’s death, he had an argument with the suspect about the man’s cattle trespassing on his private land. The individual allegedly refused to adhere to Itwaru’s request and a heated argument ensued when the Individual threatened Itwaru saying “I gon finish yuh”.

 

She said she remains fearful of her life and her child’s life.

 

Meanwhile, an autopsy was performed on the body of Itwaru which revealed that he died of Shock and Haemorrhage due to Gunshot wounds.

 

On Tuesday at about 15:30 hours at Ring Road Gangaram Estate Dam East Canje Berbice, the cattle farmer Ramnarine Itwaru was found by a Fisherman with four gunshot wounds about the body. His body was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

 

Investigations are ongoing.
