An employee attached to a hospital in Berbice was taken into custody just after midday on Monday after allegations of rape were levelled against him by two of his daughters.
News Room understands that the girls; a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old were first sexually molested by their 49-year-old father in November 2015 and he continues to do so ever since, until the latter part of December 2016.
However, after the situation became unbearable for the girls, they broke the news to their mother yesterday afternoon (Monday, January 16, 2017).
According to information received, the mother who works as a Community police and the suspect, separated for approximately eleven years now and it is only about fours year ago that she started allowing the two girls to visit and spend time with their father.
The News Room was told that on December 14, 2016, the girls visited their father who lives alone in a one-bedroom house and he would usually share the same bed with them.
Following an interview with investigators, the 13-year-old revealed that between November 2015 and December 2016 at their father’s home, he sexually assaulted them on several occasions. News Room was informed that both the girls were taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where they were examined by a doctor who confirmed that they were abused.
Further investigations were carried out by the police who later arrested the suspect. He is presently in police custody assisting with the investigations.
