Afghanistan start Caribbean tour with warm-up win

Afghanistan defeated the WICB President’s XI by 12 runs in a T20 warm-up match at Warner Park on Tuesday night. Afghanistan, opting to bat first against WICB President’s XI, reached 115 for nine wickets off their 20 overs. WICB President’s XI made 103 for nine wickets off their 20 overs.

Afghanistan’s total was built on Usman Ghani’s 36, while Miguel Cummins had 3-19, Sheldon Cottrell 3-24 and Veerasammy Permaul 2-24. Despite Johnson Charles 53, the President’s XI fell short of the target. The game was the lone warm-up for Afghanistan ahead of a three-match T20 series against the West Indies, starting on June 2 in St. Kitts.
