A 44-year-old man is the main suspect in the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Leon Gittens.
The incident occurred on Friday night at Freeman Street, East La Penitence. The News Room reported earlier than the incident occurred early Saturday morning.

According to a police report, the 44-year-old suspect is the father of a woman who Gittens shared an intimate relationship with.

Police reported that Gittens had been threatened by the man in January. On Friday, however, when Gittens went to pick up the woman, the suspect entered the East La Penitence premises.

The woman reportedly told police officers that her father was dressed in a blue dress with a wig on his head. He had a black handgun too.

The woman reportedly hid from her father but heard three loud explosions that sounded like gunshots.

Soon after, the suspect made his escape. When the woman found Gittens, he was lying motionless infront of a bedroom.

An alarm was raised and Gittens was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The man’s body is awaiting an autopsy while police continue their search for the suspect.

Gittens is no stranger to the court. In November 2017, he was among four men who were remanded to prison for a series of robbery-related charges.

They were accused of robbing Asif Mohammed of a quantity of cash, electronics and personal items valued $2.2M while making use of personal violence.
