Police are on the hunt for a man who shot two persons in North Sophia during an argument just after midnight on Friday.

Injured and said to be stable at the Georgetown Public Hospital are 27-year-old Yardan Jacobs, a labourer of the same village and his cousin, 29-year-old Steve Bacchus, a businessman, also of North Sophia.

Police Headquarters reported that Jacobs was at the “Tanary area in North Sophia hanging out with some friends when he reportedly got into an argument with an identifiable male (of mixed race)” at around 00:05hrs on Saturday.

It is alleged that Bacchus intervened when the suspect then pulled out a firearm from the waist of his pants and discharged several rounds in the direction of the men.

Jacobs was shot to his upper right side abdomen and Bacchus received a gunshot wound to his lower right side back.

The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction.  Police ranks on patrol duty responded and took Jacobs to the hospital while public-spirited citizens rushed Bacchus there as well.

Investigations are ongoing.
