    A woman is seriously injured after the bicycle she was riding collided with a motor vehicle along the Number 46 Public Road on Saturday, September 24, 2016.

    Injured is 21-year-old, Omawattie Ramsammy of Lot 30 Number 47 Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

    According to information received, motor vehicle PLL 2290 owned by 83 –year- old Arnold Clarke and driven by 47- year- old Ron Clarke, while proceeding south along the eastern drive lane of Number 46 Public Road, he suddenly applied brakes resulting in the bicycle colliding with the right side bumper of the car.

    Ramsammy, who was thrown off her bicycle was picked up in a conscious state and rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital.

    She was later taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where she was admitted. She is reportedly in a stable condition.

    Meanwhile, according to Traffic Chief Mr. Bhudnarine Persaud the driver of PLL 2290 is in police custody assisting with investigations.

    Mr. Persaud said the traffic department was today boosted with the placement of several ranks, who recently completed training in Georgetown.

    He deemed it a plus for the traffic department since there will be more manpower on the roadways to assist in curbing reckless driving.
