Private Sector body submits 2017 budget recommendations to Finance Minister

On behalf of the business community, the Private Sector Commission (PSC) has submitted its recommendations to the Ministry of Finance for the 2017 National Budget which will be presented in the National Assembly in early December.

According to PSC Trade and Investment, Chair Ramesh Dookhoo a long list of recommendations was forwarded to Finance Minister Winston Jordon.

Dookhoo said the list focused on groundwork needed to conduct business and ways the sector can improve from the slowdown in business experienced most of last year and a bit of this year.

“A lot of it has to do with infrastructure, taxation, incentivizing various sectors. As you know, a lot of crucial sectors of the country are; they’ve performed at a reduced level than they did in 2015 so we did make recommendations on how to stimulate those” Dookhoo said.

 Ever since announcing plans to present budget 2017 government begun a series of consultations with various stakeholders across the country.

The 2017 National Budget is expected to be tabled in the National Assembly on December 5 by the Finance Minister.
