Speeding driver dies after crashing into bridge

Police are investigating the death of 36-year-old Terrence Bowen, who died after crashing into the bridge at the Ocean View Conference Centre on the Liliendaal Public road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

A police report noted that the accident occurred just after midnight Wednesday. Investigations revealed that Bowen of lot 62 Atlanticville, ECD, was the lone occupant of motor car PVV 7104, and was proceeding east along the northern carriageway, allegedly at a fast rate of speed.

Reports indicate that he lost control and his vehicle slammed into the bridge of the Ocean View Conference Centre. As a result of the impact, the front windscreen shattered and Bowen’s body ended up inside the Centre’s Compound, which resulted in severe injuries. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public spirited persons where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
