Constables, prison officer to be charged for escape of prisoner

Three Police Constables and one prison officer will soon be charged in relation to the escape of rape accused Dellon Blake.

Blake escaped from the Lusignan Prison on Wednesday, October 04, 2017. He scaled a fence and escaped “in full view of Police Ranks performing duties in the guard hut tower, overlooking the new holding facility at the Prison, which area is well illuminated,” the Police had said, prompting an investigation to be launched.

Blake who was initially admitted to the prison on July 24, 2017, was eventually recaptured at the Soesdyke/Linden area.

The force on Wednesday stated that the investigation was completed and legal advice was sought; it was recommended that the four ranks be charged under the Criminal Law Offences (Act) Chapter 8:01.
