Nineteen-year-old Ghansam Lekhram died at the Georgetown Public Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, a week after he crashed his car.
Lekhram, a well-known Pandit, who resided at Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, was on life support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) until he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 13:30hrs on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.
According to information reaching News Room, the accident occurred at Zeelugt in the wee hours of November 06, as the Pandit was on his way home from Parika, East Bank Essequibo after he dropped home two of his friends.
Reports indicate that the young man in his attempt to avoid hitting a “highly intoxicated” person on the roadway, ended up crashing into an electrical pole instead.
News Room understands that the Premio motorcar was badly damaged while the Pandit also suffered severe internal injuries and a piece of wood was stuck in his throat.
