The Bounty Colts and the Victory Valley Royals are the only two undefeated teams left in the ‘Road to Mecca’ National Club Basketball Championships that continued with group stage action on Wednesday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
The Victory Valley Royals will definitely be one of the teams in the semi-finals of the tournament after winning all four of their group games to top Group B. The Royals defeated the Pacesetters 87-75 on Wednesday evening in a fairly comfortable game for the Linden based side.
While the Pacesetters kept the game fairly close throughout the four quarters, especially with a brilliant exchange between the two teams in the second quarter, they never seemed to have enough fire power to get past the Royals for the win as they trailed the majority of the game.
Orlan Glasgow continued his stellar play with 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Harold Adams also had a good game with 21 points and 11 boards. Yannick Tappin also chipped in with 12 points. Joslyn Crawford was the high point man for the Pacsetters with 14 points.
Meanwhile, Colts continued their unbeaten run with their third win on the trot with a 50-point win against Berbice side Rose Hall Jammers. Colts hammered Rose Hall Jammers 105-52 with one group game left on their schedule.
Jammers never had a chance and despite ending the first quarter tied with Colts on 18, it was all downhill from their especially in the second half. The Colts held the Jammers to 18 points in the entire second half for one of the most lopsided games one could witness.
Dave Causway dropped 30 points and nine assists, while Shelroy Thomas had 19 points. Shane Webster and Quincy Lindo chipped in with 16 and 12 points respectively. Mickel Lewis was the high point man for the Berbice side with 16 points.
The action in the tournament will continue on December 22 with the final night of group action with the top two teams in each group going to the semi-finals on December 23.
