19% decrease in crime – Police Force

The Guyana Police Force has recorded a 19% decrease in serious crimes at the end of January 2018 relative to the same period last year.

A statement from the Force noted that there were seven murders recorded at the end of January, which is the same amount recorded last year for the same period while a total of 45 armed robberies were recorded.

This is the same amount that was recorded at the end of January last year as well.

Police also recorded a 13% decrease in robbery where no instruments were used; a 50% decrease in robbery under arms where instruments other than firearms were used; a 50% decrease in robbery with aggravation; a 50% decrease in larceny from the person; a 24% decrease in rape; a 52% decrease in burglary; a 9% decrease in break and enter and larceny and a 45% increase in robbery with violence.

Meanwhile, the police seized a total of 19 firearms thus far.
