Police Commissioner (ag) David Ramnarine Thursday afternoon said the Police was in possession of three statements which show that Devon Lyte was “never, ever” on the roof of the building from which he claimed to have seen the Police execute three men on March 15.

Lyte had claimed he was on the roof of a building under construction, but the Police have since said that statements from the contractor, the sub-contractor and the security supervisor prove otherwise.

Further, Ramnarine said that the eyewitness has so far not showed up for the Police to take his statement. Attorney Nigel Hughes had expressed concern about protection for Lyte, but Ramnarine said Lyte didn’t need protection when he appeared on national TV and neither did he need that protection when he went to the Criminal Investigation Department Monday afternoon.

“How funny, how funny indeed!” Ramnarine stated.

The Top Cop said Lyte and Mr Hughes went to the CID and spoke with Crime Chief Paul Williams and presented a statement.

Williams requested to conduct an interview based on the statement and Lyte opted to return the following day but the Police have so far been unable to secure that interview with him.

Hughes had visited the site on Wednesday where Lyte was and was told that Lyte was a labourer who worked the “ransom” on the ground floor.
