Berbice youth believed killed over $5,000
A Berbice young man was Thursday found dead on the Corentyne Coast; relatives claimed he was murdered.
Dead is 21-year-old carpenter Navindradat Bhawan also known as Altaf and Mice.
He was found dead on the road at No.70 village on the Corentyne. It is in the same area that another carpenter, Faiyaz Narinedatt was found dead between October 31st and November 1st, 2016.
Relatives say that someone known to them had visited the house, threatening to kill Bhawan.
His uncle Mohamed Safraz Noordeen said someone named “Two Feet” had visited him three times during the day, saying that Bhawan had taken $5, 000 from him to buy rum and that if he didn’t return it he would be killed.
Later in the day, Nordeen was told that his nephew was lying on the road. When he arrived at the scene, Bhawan was lying face down but was still alive.
He rushed him to the hospital but he reportedly died on the way.
Police are investigating the matter.
The family says they want justice.
