A four-year-old boy identified as Alex Prince has been pronounced dead after he was Monday found unconscious, naked and with injuries to the head and eyes.
The child was found at about 12:00hrs by his step-father at their home in Silver Hill on the Linden Highway.
The News Room understands that the stepfather alleged that he left the child home to go to a nearby shop to buy food to cook. He claimed that when he returned home he found the little boy unconscious.
Nurses from the health centre were called to the house and after realizing the situation called an ambulance from the Mckenzie Hospital in Linden.
The child died before reaching the hospital.
Police ranks are on the scene investigating and have arrested the stepfather.
