APNU+AFC candidate and former Guyana Defence Force captain Daniel Seeram has been elected by the Coalition to be the Chairman of the Regional Democratic Council for Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica.)
Seeram, who came to be known following his involvement in the recently completed protracted general and regional elections, specifically the recount exercise, replaces Genevieve Allen.
He was elected following a vote by Coalition members Monday morning.
The APNU+AFC won Region Four with 116,941 votes according to figures from the recount exercise.
Seeram was a candidate for the coalition in the 2020 elections.
The Vice-Chairman position also went to an APNU+AFC candidate, Samuel Sandy who is a Director at the Public Service Staff College.
They will now have to be sworn in by President Irfaan Ali.
Region #4 RDC has a total of 35 seats, the APNU+AFC has 20 of those seats, 14 went to the People’s Progressive Party and Change Guyana secured one seat.
