Three more COVID deaths pushes toll to 317

Three more persons who tested positive for COVID-19 died on Friday, taking the country’s overall death toll since March 2020 to 317.

The latest fatalities are: one female, 68-year-old from Region 5 (Mahaica-Berbice); two males, a 34 year-old from Region 4 (Demerara-Mahaica) and another 52 year old from Region 3 (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara).

They all died while receiving care at a medical facility.
These deaths take May’s death toll to 17 thus far.

Between March 11, 2020, to March 4, 2021, Guyana recorded exactly 200 deaths. In April alone, the deadliest month of the pandemic so far, 65 individuals who were infected, lost their lives.

All Guyanese are reminded to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 EMERGENCY MEASURES (NO.17), which are in effect until May 31, 2021.
