Failing to stop at the intersection of Camp and Quamina Streets, Georgetown, resulted in a 41-year-old driver slamming into another motorcar. The accident occurred on Tuesday at around 14:30hrs.

Police said the driver, Delon Sam of Lot 49 Atlantic Ville, East Coast Demerara, was proceeding east on the northern side of Quamina Street in his motorcar PMM 4711.

The other motorcar, PMM 1967, was being driven by 27-year-old Joel Bess Lot 309 Sunflower Avenue, Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara; he was proceeding south on the eastern carriageway of Camp Street.

He was transporting 38-year-old Samantha Singh of Enterprise, East Coast Demerara, at the time.

Police said that as both vehicles approached the intersection, Sam failed to stop and in turn collided with Bess’ vehicle. Both vehicles received extensive damages as a result of the crash.

Singh received injuries and had to be rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital to receive medical attention.

Police said a notice of intended prosecution was served on Sam. A breathalyser test was also conducted on both drivers and no alcohol was found on their breaths.
