Teens among 5 arrested for illegal gun, ammo
Five youths are in police custody following the discovery of a .32 revolver, four matching live rounds of ammunition, six cell phones and an electronic tablet which were found inside a two-storey stricture they are occupying in Guyhoc Park, Georgetown.
Those arrested are a 23-year-old female, a 19-year-old male and three juveniles between the age of 15 and 16.
According to a police report, at around 11:00hrs on Tuesday, a corporal and a party of police went to the house where they met the mentioned suspects; a search was requested and conducted during which the ranks found a black bag on a chair
The gun with the serial number filed off was found inside the bag, and was loaded with the ammo. “Immediately they were asked to produce a valid firearm licence which proved futile,” the police alleged.
Subsequently, they were all told of the offence committed, cautioned and arrested. As the search continued, the six cell phones and tablet were also found.
Police said they all denied ownership and as such were escorted to the East La Penitence Police Station.
The force has since launched an investigation surrounding the circumstances of the unlawful possession of the articles found.
