60,000 ganja plants, 600lbs dried cannabis destroyed by cops

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force on Wednesday destroyed 60,000 cannabis plants and 600 pounds of dried cannabis which were discovered in Ebini area in the Upper Berbice River.

Police Headquarters revealed that during the course of the day, a party of police from the Region Six Division conducted the eradication exercise where four fields were discovered, covering approximately 10 acres of land.

It consisted of 60,000 cannabis plants ranging from six inches to 10 ft in height and 600 pounds of dried cannabis.

Upon arrival at one of the fields, a male, upon seeing the police, made good his escape into the bushes.

A total of five camps were destroyed by fire, along with the said cannabis plants.
