OnAIR media brightens Christmas for over 300 children

OnAIR Media Consultancy started on a journey, on December 5, to put smiles on the faces of 200 children all in the spirit of the holidays. The first annual toy drive took the team to Berbice, Region Six; Linden, Region Ten; Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, Region Three; and Georgetown every Sunday leading up to Christmas day.

In the end, over 300 children benefited from the local toy drive. Aside from the toys, the children were given candy, a snack, and a juice box. The children were mainly identified based on the squatting community they are living in.

The aim behind this initiative was to bring about holiday cheer as Guyana is no different when it comes to the hardship being experienced because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. According to one parent with tears in her eyes, ‘the kind act is much needed in this area because things are hard.’

We were fortunate to have support from various brands under the ANSA McAL Trading Limited company, the Office of the First Lady, along with other close friends and public support.

This is the first in a series of community engagement OnAIR Media Consultancy plans to roll out in the years to come where communities in need can be given that extra boost despite current challenges facing them.

The company is already in talks with potential supporters for the next holiday toy drive slated for December 2022.

OnAIR Media Consultancy was birthed from a personal YouTube channel by founder Mark Junior Murray in late September 2021. (Press release from OnAIR media)
