    Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 1,050 with the deaths of two other men, the Ministry of Health reported on Monday.

    The victims were a 55-year-old unvaccinated man of Region 10 (Upper Demerara – Berbice) who died on December 27 and a 54-year-old man of Region Three (Essequibo Islands – West Demerara) who died on December 13.

    His vaccination status was unknown.

    With those deaths, December’s death toll has increased to 50.

    Meanwhile, 12 new cases were recorded after 169 tests were conducted. This increases the total confirmed cases to 39, 119.

    The new cases were recorded in: Region Three (one case), Region Four (three cases), Region Six (four cases) and Region Seven (four cases).

    There are also six patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 32 people in institutional isolation, 682 people in home isolation and two persons in institutional quarantine.

    Meanwhile, a total of 37,349 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
