Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an inmate at the Lusignan Prison. The inmate has been identified as Mahase Rajpaul, who was imprisoned for murder.
Rajpaul was accused of the October 2017 murder of Bhagwan Ramadhar, a 43-year-old father of four.
Ramadhar was struck to his head with a piece of wood during an argument with Rajpaul at Industry, East Coast Demerara.
Rajpaul and Ramadhar were known to consume alcohol, which would often lead to heated arguments. Ramadhar was the only son of his parents.
