A gang of seven Venezuelan men armed with hand guns reportedly robbed a 24-year-old businessman of Eteringbang Landing, Cuyuni River of 70.5 ounces of raw gold and an undisclosed amount of cash in the wee hours of Thursday.
Police Headquarters reported that the businessman, Ronnel Sam was away in Venezuela at the time of the robbery.
According to the report, the suspects went to Sam’s business place at about 03:30hrs and held the workers at gunpoint. Police said no shots were fired. The suspects broke the door handle to gain access to the property and ransacked the place.
Investigations are ongoing.
