A Bartica man was on Wednesday sentenced to three years in jail and fined, after he admitted to having 293 grammes of cannabis in his possession.
Shaquille Charles, 27, of Seventh Avenue Bartica, appeared at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court where Magistrate Crystal Lambert read a possession of narcotics charge to him.
He was sentenced to three years in jail and fined $445,500 after his confession.
According to the Police, on December 4, 2022, at about 23:15 hrs, Police searched the Charles’s home where they found a bag containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems and was in a room.
