The Ministry of Housing and Water has already surpassed its 10,000 house lot allocation target for the year 2022, with a projection of 11,500 house lots slated to be allocated by the end of the calendar year.

“We had committed 10,000 annually and we have surpassed that 10,000 for this year for 2022,” Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal said at the sidelines of the ministry’s Dream Realised house lot distribution exercise on Tuesday at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, Greater Georgetown.

In the lead up to the March 2020 elections, the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) campaigned on the promise of distributing 50,000 house lots by 2025.

Croal noted that the ministry is confident on delivering on that promise as the government has distributed almost 19,000 house lots since assuming office.

“We’re in the vicinity of 19,000 plus and minimum we’ll complete by the end of this year since we’re back into office it will be at least 20,000 allocations,” Croal said.

Croal noted that the numbers only account for routine allocations in terms of new areas, but noted that the Ministry is also focused on regularising a number of areas once it can be regularised.
