Rain brought a premature end to day one of the Guyana Cricket Board’s Senior Inter-County Four-Day game between Essequibo and the Select XI on Wednesday at the National Stadium, Providence.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Essequibo closed on 57-3 from the 20.3 overs that were possible, with Kemol Savory not out on 16 and Keemo Paul yet to get off the mark.
Kevon Boodie (17), Avinash Persaud (0) and Ronaldo Renee (22) are the batsmen dismissed, with Carlos LaRose, Sylus Tyndall and Demitri Cameron the wicket-takers.
In the other first round game, Berbice defeated Demerara by six wickets at the same venue on Tuesday.
