Speeding driver dies in accident at Long Creek – Police

Police investigators were Sunday still probing the circumstances surrounding a fatal incident that occurred late Friday night at Long Creek along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway.

The incident involved motor car PTT 6945 owned and driven by Darren Henry, 41, and occupant Sheneka Campayne, 36, both of Wisroc Housing Scheme, Linden.

A statement from Police Headquarters noted that motor car PTT6945 was speeding south along the eastern side of the road in the vicinity of Long Creek when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

“The car ended up on the western side of the road where it flipped and turn turtle several times. The driver pitched out of the vehicle onto the road surface where he received injuries to his head and body,” the police statement noted.

Campayne was taken out of the vehicle in a conscious condition without any injury while Henry was picked up in a semi-conscious condition and taken to the Linden Hospital Complex.

He succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment.
