Police in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man, so far unidentified, whose lifeless body was found on the parapet at Fourth Avenue, Bartica, on Thursday.
The man, of Amerindian descent, was discovered in the area by a 44-year-old taxi driver at about 06:00 hrs today, who reported it to Police ranks.
Upon receipt of the report, Police detectives visited the scene, where they found the man’s body, clad in a purple jersey and black pants, along with long boots, lying face down.
The scene was processed, and the body was examined. No marks of violence were seen.
The man’s body was subsequently escorted to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where a doctor gave an official pronouncement of death. A PME is slated to be done soon and further investigations are ongoing.
