An accident at Farm Track (access road) at Madewini, East Bank Demerara, resulted in the death of 63-year-old Arnold De Santos, a resident of the same area.
Police Headquarters reported that motor lorry (# GAD-7213) driven by a 27-year-old from Farm Track, Madewini, was reversing at a fast rate when the driver collided with De Santos.
“As a result of the collision, the rear right-side wheel of the lorry ‘rolled over’ the pedestrian, who received injuries to his head and on the body,” the police reported.
He was pronounced dead at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
The body was escorted to the Memorial Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The lorry driver was arrested and is in custody, assisting with the investigation.
