Police have arrested the owner of the pit bulls that attacked and killed 64-year-old Latchminen Permaul in Corentyne, Berbice on Tuesday.

Police Headquarters on Thursday confirmed that the owner, a 35-year-old resident of Topoo Village, was taken to the Albion Police Station where he was placed in custody.

He remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Permaul, also called “Blackboy” died after he was attacked at around 04:00hrs.

An autopsy on Thursday revealed that Permaul died as a result of shock and hemorrhage and multiple lacerations.

The victim’s wife told Police that he left home on Monday at approximately 17:00 hrs and headed to a liquor shop in the area. While there, he reportedly imbibed for quite some time.

He then got intoxicated and experienced difficulty finding his way home. Police said Permaul stopped at the street corner and was seen sleeping on the ground.

“At about 05:00 hrs on 2024-01-16, whilst at home, Sandra (the wife) said she received information that her husband was lying at the street corner and three Pit Bulls ‘bore out of a fence’ near where the man was lying. The dogs then viciously attacked the man,” Police Headquarters said.

Police Officers were taken to the area where Latchminen’s body was found.

His body was examined and dog bites were seen on his legs and neck.

You arrested the owner of the Pit bulls ? Good.
What about seizing those dangerous dogs and put them to sleep ?
I mean, really kill them so they will never again attack anyone.
They were not leashed and held in secure area.
The man was killed on the street/road.
I am calling for the authorities to capture and kill those PIT BULLS… ALL OF THEM.
