Police find $17M in marijuana during Berbice raid
Police of Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) found 43 pounds of marijuana hidden under coconut branches in an abandoned yard on Saturday.
A statement from Police headquarters said the several locations and a motor vehicle were searched during the raids which took place between 08:15hrs and 09:00hrs.
According to the Police, a search was carried out in an abandoned yard and a ‘salt bag’ was found hidden under several dry coconut tree branches.
The bag contained a total of thirty-nine parcels. Each parcel contained cannabis. It amounted to 43 pounds with an estimated street value of $17 million.
The marijuana was marked and lodged as the investigation continues.
