On Thursday a new executive body of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) will be elected. Just recently twenty-one (21) members were elected to GCCI’s Council following an annual general meeting.

It will be up to the members to vote for who they believe should be the next President and to fill the other executive positions.

Lance Hinds who is the outgoing President will not be allowed to run for the position again because based on GCCI’s constitution a person is only permitted to hold that title for two consecutive years.

The new Executive Management Committee will be elected on Monday (April 4) to officially serve for the year 2016/2017, according to GCCI.

Additionally, coming out of the recent annual general meeting amendments were made to the existing Rules of the Chamber.

GCCI’s Treasurer, Shanti Persaud also presented the Auditor’s Report and Financial Statements for the year ended December 31, 2015.

In a press statement the organization described the financial performance for the year ending December 2015 as “favourable”.

The Chamber’s income for 2015 amounted to $25,063,022 while total expenditure for the year 2015 amounted to $23,834,082. Surplus amounted to $1,228,940.
