Two months after the murder of 82-year-old retired Anglican Priest George Chuck-A-Sang, a man and a woman were on Wednesday charged and remanded to prison for the crime.

Rawle McPherson, 45, of Victoria, East Coast Demerara and Mohanie Mohabir, 43, of Corentyne Berbice appeared before the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The duo denied that between December 21 and December 23, 2020, at the St. Sidwell’s Anglican Church, Vlissengen Road, Lodge, Georgetown, they murdered Chuck-A-Sang.

The Chief Magistrate remanded the duo to prison until February 25.

The News Room understands that McPherson and Mohabir were known to the priest and would often visit his home. The police are currently on the hunt for a third suspect.

According to reports, the priest’s body, bearing multiple stab wounds, was discovered by his daughter, Renata and the current Priest Monsell Alves.

Police said the body was found with about seven stab wounds and his forehead was swollen.
