Fire ravages 9-bedroom guest house in Skeldon

A fire Friday night completely destroyed a nine-bedroom guest house in Skeldon, Upper Corentyne, Berbice.

Known as the “Embassy Building”, the guest house was burnt to the ground as the owner, Swarendra Sukhpaul looked on in disbelief.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. The facility was popular among tourists from Suriname and also included a bar and restaurant in the bottom flat. The owner is estimating millions of dollars in losses.
