Canadian citizen dies in Lethem accident

An 87-year-old Canadian citizen, Brandis Kennedy on Sunday morning lost his life after the motor pickup in which he was travelling drove off the Manari bridge, Lethem, and ended up in a creek.

Police stated that Kennedy was traveling in a SUV, PKK 6060 driven by 32-year-old Anthony Pillew of 353 Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara and as they were crossing the Manari Bridge, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ended up in a creek which is about 30 feet below.

It was noted that as a result of the impact, the vehicle was damaged and both men received injuries.

They were pulled from the vehicle by a passerby and taken to the Lethem Regional Hospital where Kennedy was pronounced dead on arrival and Pillew was admitted and is being treated for abrasions about his body.

The incident occurred at about 03:10 hrs.
